1. Laysan Albatross Phoebastria immutabilis, Point Arena cove, California, USA, January 19, 2003. This adult bird has wintered in Point Arena every year for several years. It returns to roost in the cove after foraging at sea and is easily observed from shore.  Note the dull pink bill with a dusky blue-gray tip.
