1. Kelp Gull Larus dominicanus, adult, Sandgates, Maryland, USA, December 26, 2000.  The well known and long-staying Maryland bird.  Note the heavy bill, dull yellow iris, broad white tips to the secondaries and small white tips to the primaries.  KEGU_01

Kelp Gull L. dominicanus, adult, Sandgates, Maryland, USA, December 26, 2000.  Note the light grayish spotting on the head an neck.  The mantle and upperwings are a rich, dark blackish color and the legs are greenish yellow.  From this angle, the small white mirror on P10 of the right wing is just visible.  KEGU_02
